  • I served 7.5 years in the Army, and much of what Nicholson’s character says is true. Military people know this. His mistake was thinking he was indispensable and answered to no one. We don’t defend the Constitution at any cost. There are rules and laws, and they must be followed. A lot of marines in this unit lost sight of this.

    Walt SearsWalt Sears24 күн мурун
    • It is simpler than that: the oath says to defend **and uphold** the constitution. The colonel failed in the "uphold" part.

Too many people at the feet of history's greatest human tragedies have used those words. Sadly they still exist. Brilliant performance from Nicholson and Cruise.

  • Well, what else can be said about such a brilliant scene, right? However, the need for recognition by the counterpart does not cease to amaze me, indeed Kaffee needs Ross to give him his approval to continue with the accusation process against Jessep and that moment when Kaffee looks at him and says ... Jack ... ?? and he gives his consent visibly affected by what he saw is priceless ... simply brilliant.
