We've Moved To Canada

Yup, that's right. We’ve moved back to Canada!
Sorry for the worry we might have caused you all, but I’m sure you can understand that it was an extremely tough decision to make. We took time off from social media and from posting videos to really think about what we were going to do. To get these changes in motion.
We were both concerned about the well being of our families during this time. As for me (Martina), since my dad passed away, I was especially worried about my mom being isolated and alone due to the necessary social distancing. My plan is to spend more time with her, maybe even learn some recipes that I can share with you all for Martina’s Midnight Munchies!
Simon has taken a step back from being on camera and he has gotten back into writing, something he truly loved doing while in university. He’s working on a book and has even been contemplating enrolling back into school. But currently he's been a bit busy with... well, you’ll see in the next video 😉
Majority of us have had to make massive changes during this time period. Covid has changed the way of the world, so we’re going to have to change with it.
I’ve always enjoyed making videos, editing, creating music, doodling so I’d like to keep sharing whatever ideas come out of my crazy head. Of course, I've also got some Build A Ladder segments I've been planning, so I'm going to give myself a smaller work load but try to be more consistent. We'll see if I can stick to my personal goals. Simon too is also going to focus on the creative ideas and processes that he enjoys, so we're looking to more flexible.
It’ll be a change, but we’ve dealt with change before. Hopefully some of you will stick around and will enjoy the new changes 2020 will bring to our channel.

  • This might not be the right place, but you're all I've got; I live in Tokyo, and my girlfriend did too until she got very very sick and went back to the US in 2018. She was officially diagnosed with hEDS, and very much wants to come back to Tokyo, but she's worried about finding an hEDS doctor (pain and specialist) because she definitely can't work (and therefore get a visa) without that support. Was there a specialist you saw here or a hospital you went to that you'd recommend? My email is honooko (at) gmail (dot) com. I'd really appreciate it. I was going to try and reach out through a friend who works with Breakerz but then I saw you're not here anymore. Thank you!

  • I'm super interested in Canada too. I want to see evrything! Vlogs, food, towns and nature. And you guys are so fun anyway you could be anywhere I don't care. Take care of yourselves! This damn corona virus is putting my life in shambles too. I'm a seasoneer. I usually work winters in a ski resort, in restaurants or shops, and summer in small touristy villages in the French countryside. My livelihood depends of touristic and beautiful places. Now, I don't know if I will be able to find work this winter. It's all rather depressing... Luckily I've got my family home to withstand the confinements.

I am sure they need time away from each other, and to visit the people they have not seen in awhile. Hopefully they can come together and live with each other, but these changes can become permanent.

  • I am really sorry you had to leave Japan before you actually planned to. I don't know if you also felt this way, but I had to move back to my country twice due to unexpected circumstances before I intended to go back, and it always feels as a chapter of my life that I have not been able to close, as if something precious was taken away from me. I am sure it was a really difficult decision and you feel torn about it, but I hope that, once this awful pandemia is over, you get adjusted to Canada and enjoy and share the many great things that your country has to offer, or plan to move somewhere else to continue enjoying the wonders this world has to offer. The great thing is that you are both happy together and very compatible in so many ways that no matter what your choice is, you will always have each other to make that choice worth it. I wish you the best :)

  • I've been a long time viewer but due to a lot of anxiety, I've never commented on any videos (from anyone). I just recently am getting out of that funk. I wanted to say that your guys videos really helped me and continue to help me. Whether it is because of my mental state or if I just needed a laugh. What I really wanted to get at though was - no matter what you and Simon make, we will enjoy it. You two have wonderful personalities and amazing chemistry together. Anything you make is magic. What matters the absolute most is that you are both well, happy, and have one another. I know I am just a person on a computer, but I'd be devastated if something were to happen to the two of you. Content changing isn't devastating, if anything it is interesting what will come next. I'm rambling I am sorry. I am just happy you and Simon are doing well (I also got done watching the 'What happened to Simon', I know, out of order haha. Nothing but the best for you both, much love.

  • Im glad you two are back home with your familias, and though you're both a blessing to the youtube community and all of us online who love & support you, I am relieved to know you guys are now secure, safe, and physically present to recieve support by your loved ones. When I first moved back to my hometown after 7 years it was a rough transition, but it was the biggest blessing that I really needed in my life. Having that physical interaction enforced the support, tender love, and care from spending time with my family and being able to make new wholesome friends that I've met a long the way has really changed my path in life. I couldnt reconize how much support I needed from my family and a community (especially during that time of having a heartbreak and a tramatic episode) because I was so use to being isolated and being on my own due to the environment of where I use lived before. It took me a whole plane ride to the Philippines and stayed for over a month to heal from the deep feeling of isolation, and thank God that I was able to come back to California ready to serve my community and be there for my family as much as they have (&are) always there for me (especially during the cringey vulnerable times where I literally forgot how to socialize) You've worked so hard for so many years as a self sufficient team, and the drive & consistency to create saucy conent , and to confidently make amazing business moves happen as the entrepreneurs that you two are. But again, I pray for both of your health and wellness to progress everday. Like having a bowl of 🍜 soup everday = the comfort to see a familiar face regularly, and being around a community who truly knows you and they even maybe be just like you (family childhood bffs traits be like that). It can heal you in a lot of ways! Just wanted to add a lil testimony of what it was like for me for when I moved back to my hometown and reinforce the nurturing goodness that can come with it. Through out the rough patches while healing from this big move, I hope that Fudgy's roughs n barks or Meemers meows n his assertive chair claiming company can ease the discomfort you two may be experiencing right now. ( I tired to pun it a little on that last sentence, I know it was a stretch ok ^=^;) Therapy pets ftw 🐈🐕✊💛💜

It was a great adventure, as well valuable experience building for yourselves, discovery too, as well excellent information provision for all your viewers that was educative and enriching during your 12 year stay in the Far East. Even though you have expressed your preference for Japan, I enjoyed your videos and content on Korea in particular. You are now only a few years removed from 40, which will begin the official prime of your adult lives. I hope that you will get as much fulfillment in Canada and anywhere else that you may decide to go to in the future. Thanks for everything.

    • Martina here: I haven’t really talked about this a lot because it’s been 7 years of total hell, but my dad suffered from Corticobasal degeneration (CBD) a rare progressive neurological disorder, and it was brutal. He passed away last year. My mom is now left alone in her house and when covid hit, she was dealing with her grief and everything all alone. My dad and mom were amazing parents; I want to help her around the house (which has been turned upside down, filled with medical supplies and more) and keep her company. So for now, we had to leave Japan. I think Simon was also feeling homesick for Canada and not adjusting to life in Asia as well anymore. So we’re making big changes for our well beings and for other’s well being, and I hope y’all will be able to continue on this adventure with us despite all the changes!

We love watching you two talk about food, we don’t care if you’re ordering it in, we don’t care if you’re talking through a mask, we don’t care if it’s Canada, Britain, France, Germany, South Africa, Korea, Japan, China, Antarctica - we love having you guys upload videos about what you’ve been eating. Even if you think it’s boring and ordinary, we don’t across the world. There’s many things we don’t know about Canada. There’s many foods you can show us. We’ve never seen things like Native Canadian food, deer, root vegetables, stews, skewers, poutine, etc. We love you guys. Don’t stress about that.
