  • I mean, the greatness of the first movie was literally in the fact that it wasn’t mindlessly optimistic. It was optimistic while also staying true to reality. It told you it’s right to never let go of hope and love, but you’ve also got to remember that there will always be those who’ll make the wrong choices. WW84, on the other hand, tells you that people can and will ALL choose to do the right thing, just like that. They only need a magical voice from the sky to tell them to.

  • That's interesting to see that the main message of this movie is ''telling the truth is the most important'', while the all entire plot from the beginning to the end, and all the events are full with holes and things that are absolutely have no connection to truth or common sense... Just one example: How a person from the beginning of the 20th century can fly a jet without even know what jet is, without full tank of fuel, and from USA to Cairo... And many more examples all over this movie...

  • I've now seen about five different videos on why this movie sucked, and what fascinates me is that every single one of them…well, they all mention that Diana basically raped a guy because Steve was in dude's body, but aside from that, they all bring up entirely different points and explanations as to why this movie sucks. And ALL of them are valid. The fact that there can be so many drastically different analyses of why this movie sucks and they're ALL equally valid makes me wonder how the fuck this movie ever happened. Like, seriously, how can there be THIS much wrong with one movie? And I haven't even seen half of the videos on the subject! I bet they're ALL equally different, and ALL still equally valid! How the fuck does a movie THIS flawed get made?!

  • What went wrong? Nearly everything. Two opening scenes. The mall scene would've been fine, but they had to hit us over the head with a WAAAAY too long flashback and a lecture from Princess Buttercup. The plot to bring back DC's poor version of Captain America was sloppy and contrived. And what happens if we resurrect someone's old girlfriend to use some woman's body for sex? The SJW's would be screaming about that, but it's okay if it's some unconscious, non-consenting guy getting sexed up by Wonder Woman. That's fine, right? Aside from Steve Rogers stand-in (who is just some weird temporarily resurrected memory), EVERY SINGLE MAN in the entire movie was portrayed as scum, rude, womanizing, condescending, etc. The Donald Trump/Max Lord portrayal was expected in such an "attempting to be woke" movie. But all the other men were terrible. Do you really want to offend half of your potential audience? Kristen Wiig was terribly miscast. She's very good at playing mousy nerdy science woman. Like Gru's girlfriend. But trying to turn her into a sex symbol and share the screen with Gal Gadot is ludicrous. And Gal Gadot's acting abilities make Keanu Reeves look like Lawrence Olivier. Even the end of the movie had two movies. The weird, K-Mart grade CGI for the Kristen Wiig's furry animal thing was awful. The fight was stupid. And then there was another ending. And what was this great climax? A poorly done, self-help, not very inspiration message from Wonder Woman. The might as well have ended with her saying, "And knowing is half the battle" like the end of 1980s GI Joe cartoons. Oh, and Wonder Woman is basically invincible now. She can fly and lasso lightning bolts and other silly nonsense? This movie was abysmal.

    sartorius73sartorius732 ай мурун
  • This movie reduced WONDER WOMAN to a shallow, whiney, sad sack whose happiness is reliant on some guy she knew 60+ years ago for a couple weeks, and who essentially rapes a man whose body was non-consensually hijacked because of a magic rock. It’s as problematic as it is disrespectful to the legacy of the character. Wonder Woman deserves better than Patty Jenkins.

    Chris BellowsChris Bellows2 ай мурун
  • I don't think we should gloss over the fact that WonderWoman RAPED the guy Steve Trevor was inhabiting. You can't give consent if you're not in control of your body, which makes it as bad as what Bill Cosby was convicted for except that wonderwonman didn't put Steve's soul in the guy, she just happily took advantage of him. It's like if a guy found an unconscious woman in a park, put the mask of his dead girlfriend over her face and then raped her, except wonderwoman also willingly put his life in danger multiple times, had him break laws and attack the secret service and was actually SAD that she had to give the poor guy his body back, not because it was the right thing to do, but so she could get her powers back. What if the guy had a girlfriend or was married? What if he was a devout Christian and virgin and was saving himself for marriage? What if he was gay? What about the crimes they committed with his body? The violation of this poor guy's dignity, privacy, autonomy, and life is utterly astounding and Wonder woman is now a totally self centered terrible person and RAPIST and Patty Jenkins wrote this garbage which speaks volumes about her character.

But really what I can never forgive is causing me to have Cats PTSD when Diana fights a Jellicle.

  • Not to disagree with Patty. I feel like she didn't what to do after Wonder Woman 1. Felt like she choose 1984 so she won't need to write a Wonder Woman in modern times while knowing Batman, Superman and Aquaman are present to assist her which makes it kinda odd. But here's the thing. Everyone in 1984 remembered what happen. The wishes were only revoked physically. Which kinda creates a odd issue in the DCEU. I mean the Synder Cut hopefully remembers that Wonder Woman can fly now. Here is an idea. Keep the wishing idea thing. In modern times. Batman wishes for his parents back. Wonder Woman wants him to revoke that wish. Batman doesn't want to do that. He takes out Superman somehow (cause he is Batman). Who knows. So Maxwell is protected by Batman instead of Cheetah. Wonder Woman revokes her wish. Showing Batman that is what heroes do brah. The talk it out and stop Maxwell together. But Ben Affleck properly didn't want to do Batman. Still I think it is a better idea as movie.

  • I liked the movie, it was fun, but I honestly think it would have gone better if Diana just beat the shit of Max Lord in the end instead of the little speech. It would have been more interesting if they had gone to an idealism vs realism/pragmatism point of view, and forced Diana to question the morals of it all, including the concept of truth since even that isn't set on stone. Showing the good the stone was able to bring to some people, like curing a kid of cancer, even if it had a fallout. Or like making her question the morals of Steve possessing that poor guy's body, maybe making so he had a family that was super worried about him, with both her and Steve feeling super guilty about it. Diana questioning the morals of trying to force Barbara to give up her powers and be helpless (what could have opened a good B plot for future movies if Diana was like "you don't need the stone to be strong" and helped her out by training her and other women in amazon style to defend themselves) (it would also be interesting if Barbara's fall out was something different than losing her humanity, or being literally like "oh? you want to be like Diana, aka Wonder Woman? Well, she isn't human, so neither will you" and accelerated the furry form earlier to her horror, throwing body horror and existential crisis elements, making her question the concept of humanity itself and eventually rejecting it in name of power) It could have come up to an end with a battle at the end where she is reluctant to outright kill Max Lord, since he is just a man and has a son, but in the end, she has to chose between her morals and humanity. She wants to save everyone, but she doesn't always can, and she has to learn it

It actually touches on basic moral issues like greed, avarice, envy, and how these things get affect people and relationships. A lot of people are only considering the end result of the wishes themselves and coming to the conclusion that some wishes, like a kid wanting to be cancer-free, are morally acceptable. That's a consequencialist point of view. But the amazonians in the movie consider the act of cheating to be bad, regardless of consequences. That's the deontologist point of view.

  • I think that they meant "monkey's paw" as more of a trick rather than "what you need". I interpreted it as the original stone took away their greatest possession and then after Max became the stone, he took away whatever he wanted. I don't think this was a story about being careful what you wish for in that sense. It isn't a karma story! The theme was that lies and shortcuts have a price, and they put the world into chaos, and the path to truth, although painful is meaningful and beautiful however hard it is. That ending was beautiful and inspiring! Of course, in reality, all humanity wouldn't have renounced their wish, but that's not the point! The point is that we CAN be better. Also, I get why the "Steve in another guy's body thing" has gotten so much rage, but think people also need to keep in mind this story took place in the 80s. That era was FULL of bodysnatcher type movies, and this story was a reflection of that time. Tonally, I totally get why it seems weird but just keep this in mind! Not to say it's right, but it also further reflects that shortcuts aren't the way to go, and despite all the bad things that happen in life, the path to truth is beautiful and painful.

  • I can't I can't even finish again. A week ago I watch Wonder Woman I thought it was bad cause the story lines, the dialogues and specially the directing\cinematography was bad but tonight i got high and said ok I will give another chance , the beginning of the movie is so good but fall the cliffs right after that. Oh my God yes the biggest Directing failure I can see in a big budget movie I see in a while. They were trying to explain a 2020 movie in 1984. You have to explain the story lines and the visual effect base on the times line . Some of the stories lines are base 1984 with 2020 sets like, the costume design are all over the place, the music are so place badly during the stories. The stories lines are all over the place, even my 5 years old can explain a story better than that.(ok that a bit harsh).
